Why Summer Is Not Just Another Season
Summer Umrah Comes With Its Own Rules
Every year we get the same call in late May. A family has three weeks free in August, the kids are off school, and they want to know if summer is a sensible time to do Umrah. Short answer, yes. Slightly longer answer, only if you plan around the heat rather than ignoring it.
Here is the honest trade off. Ramadan pulls the biggest crowds and the highest prices of the entire year, because demand is squeezed into one month. Summer spreads that same demand across June, July and August instead. Fewer people fighting over the same hotel rooms on any given week, and pricing that generally sits well below Ramadan rates, even during the busiest fortnight in late July.
What summer does bring is heat. Real heat, not the sort you can shrug off with a bottle of water. Makkah in July regularly sits in the mid forties Celsius during the day, and Madinah is not far behind. That does not mean summer travel is a mistake. It means the details matter more than they would in, say, November, and this page walks through exactly which details.
Everything below uses the same contracted hotels, the same ground team and the same pricing structure as our full range of Umrah packages, adjusted specifically for a summer departure.

The Question Most Agencies Skip
How Hot Is Too Hot for Umrah in Summer?
Let us be direct about this, because most agencies just will not be. Summer in the Hejaz is properly hot. Daytime temperatures climb into the mid forties Celsius across June, July and August, and the humidity in Madinah can make it feel worse than the number on the forecast.
Inside the Haram itself, it is far more bearable than you might expect. Marble flooring stays cool underfoot, misting fans run along the courtyards, and the covered walkways do a genuinely good job of cutting the worst of the sun. The struggle is not the Haram. It is the walk to and from it.
Fifteen minutes in direct sun in January feels like nothing. The same fifteen minutes in July, carrying a bag, wearing Ihram, after a long haul flight, is a different experience entirely. Older parents feel it fastest. Young children overheat faster than adults realise. This is exactly why hotel distance stops being a nice to have in summer and becomes one of the decisions that shapes your whole trip.
If you want to see precisely how our hotel tiers compare on distance, star rating and price before deciding how close you actually need to be this summer, our full breakdown of Umrah packages by hotel rating lays it out properly rather than leaving you to guess from a brochure photo.
Pick Your Hours CarefullyEarly morning and after Maghrib are your friendsTawaf before sunrise or once the sun has gone down properly. Midday between roughly 11am and 4pm is when the outdoor courtyards empty and the Haram fills, for good reason.
Distance Matters More Than UsualA short walk in winter is a real walk in JulyWe steer summer bookings toward hotels within a few minutes of the Haram wherever the budget allows, precisely because that walk changes character completely once the temperature climbs.
Stay Ahead of DehydrationWater before you feel thirsty, not afterZamzam stations sit throughout the Haram, and using them regularly rather than occasionally makes a genuine difference across a long day of worship.
Pace the RitualsBreak longer acts of worship into stages if neededNobody is timing you. Splitting Sa'i or a long Tawaf across two sittings in extreme heat is sensible planning, not a shortcut.
None of this is meant to put you off. Millions of people perform Umrah in summer every single year without incident. It just rewards a bit of planning that a winter trip does not really need, and we build that planning into your itinerary as standard.
Prices for Summer Departures
Summer Umrah Packages for 2027
Every price below includes return flights, Nusuk permit processing, hotels in Makkah and Madinah, all ground transport in Saudi Arabia and guided Ziyarah. Deposits start from £99. Summer availability moves quickly once school breaks up, so the earlier you lock in dates, the better the hotel choice tends to be.
07 Nights
7 Night Summer Umrah Package
Four nights in Makkah, three in Madinah. A tidy fit for a single week of school holidays or annual leave, and a sensible first Umrah for someone who has not travelled to Saudi Arabia before.
Five nights in each city. What we suggest to most families booking around the six week summer holiday, because it gives proper time in both Harams without needing the whole break.
Seven nights in each city. Suited to families with the full six weeks free, retired pilgrims who prefer to move slowly through the heat, and anyone for whom this may be a once in a lifetime trip.
Built around what your family actually needs across the holidays. A masjid group departure, a different city split, connecting rooms for children, or dates timed around one traveller flying in from abroad.
Prices shown are starting points per person and move with exact dates, hotel distance from the Haram and how far in advance you book. If seven to fourteen nights does not fit your holiday allowance, our breakdown of Umrah trip lengths from 7 to 21 nights explains what each option actually gives you.
Already Thinking About Summer 2028?
Some families book their next summer's Umrah while the last one is still fresh in their memory. If you would rather plan a year ahead, our forward dated page for 2028 keeps the same pricing structure and lets you reserve hotel rooms before they fill.
Return FlightsFrom your nearest major UK airport to Jeddah or Madinah, priced properly rather than pulled from whichever route is easiest for us.
Nusuk Permit ProcessingHandled from document collection through to approval, including bookings on non British passports held alongside UK residence.
Hotels Chosen for SummerNamed on your confirmation with the walking distance to the Haram stated in writing, weighted toward closer hotels for hot weather departures.
All Saudi TransportAirport arrival, the journey between Makkah and Madinah, Ziyarah transport and your return to the airport, all in air conditioned vehicles.
Guided ZiyarahAccompanied visits to the historical sites in both cities, timed around the cooler parts of the day wherever the schedule allows.
ATOL ProtectionLicence 12834. Your certificate is issued when you pay, and the number is verifiable on the CAA register in under a minute.
Support ThroughoutA named consultant in London and a team on the ground in Saudi Arabia, reachable at any hour of the night.
Not Included, and Why
Travel InsuranceWe recommend it strongly and can point you towards providers, but we do not sell it, so you are free to choose cover that suits your health and your budget.
MenACWY VaccinationMandatory for your Nusuk permit and available through your NHS GP. Book it at least ten days before travel or the certificate will not be accepted.
Sun Protection and Rehydration ProductsBring your own sun cream, a refillable bottle and any electrolyte sachets you prefer. We will remind you, but the packing is down to you.
Meals Beyond BreakfastBed and breakfast is standard. Eating in Makkah and Madinah is inexpensive and most pilgrims would rather choose for themselves.
Passport RenewalSix months validity beyond entry is required. Check yours today, because renewals take weeks and this delays more summer bookings than anything else we see.
Who We Travel With
Four Conversations We Have About Summer Umrah
If one of these sounds like your situation, you already know what to ask us.
1
Families Building Around the Six Week Break
This is the single biggest group we book across summer. Term ends in mid July across most of England, and parents want a package that starts a few days after school breaks up and finishes with a week or two spare before the new year starts. Our budget conscious three star family bookings are worth a look here, because a smaller room count over a longer trip often works out kinder on the wallet than a shorter stay in a pricier hotel.
2
First Timers Weighing Summer Against Ramadan
A genuinely common question, and a fair one. Ramadan carries obvious spiritual weight for a lot of people, but it also carries the highest prices and the thickest crowds of the entire year. Summer gives you a calmer Haram, a gentler queue for the Black Stone, and generally lower costs, in exchange for heat rather than fasting. Neither choice is wrong. We would rather you pick knowingly than by accident.
3
Masjid Groups Planning a Year Ahead
Group leaders who booked last August often come straight back to us in September to lock in the following summer, because they have already felt how quickly the closest hotels fill once the school holidays are confirmed. If comparing exact months and pricing side by side would help your committee decide, our monthly breakdown of Umrah packages across the UK calendar shows how summer stacks up against spring and autumn properly.
4
Sending Older Parents in the Heat
A different conversation to the one above, and it deserves its own care. Adult children arrange this trip often, and the honest answer is that summer is workable for older pilgrims provided the hotel sits close to the Haram and the daily schedule avoids the worst midday hours. Wheelchair assistance and ground floor rooms can both be arranged. Just tell us at the first conversation.
From First Question to Departure
How to Book Your Summer Umrah
Four steps. Nothing is confirmed and no money moves until you have seen everything in writing.
Call Us or Send Your Dates
Ring 0203 504 1818, or send an enquiry through the form above with your rough dates, how many are travelling and roughly what you want to spend. Nothing needs deciding on the day, and most first conversations are about narrowing options rather than booking anything.
See the Heat Factored In
This is the step other agencies skip. We price hotels by their actual distance from the Haram and tell you plainly which options suit a summer departure and which ones we would steer you away from, even if the cheaper option looks tempting on paper.
Pay a Deposit from £99
Once you are satisfied, £99 secures the booking and your ATOL certificate under licence 12834 is issued straight away. The balance follows on a schedule agreed with you, and for group bookings we set staged payments so no single family has to find the whole amount at once.
We Handle the Permit and Paperwork
Bring your passports and vaccination certificates and we take it from there. Validity, photograph specifications and MenACWY certificates all get checked before anything is submitted, because those three cause nearly every delay we encounter. You receive your itinerary, hotel confirmations and airport timings ahead of travel.

Amazing service!!
The team was professional and responsive from the start, and the package was well organised with comfortable accommodation and convenient transport.
The questions we get asked most often once someone decides summer is the right time to go.
Hot enough that you should plan your day around it rather than ignore it. June through August regularly brings daytime temperatures into the mid forties Celsius in Makkah, with Madinah not far behind. The Haram itself is far more manageable than the streets around it, thanks to marble flooring, misting fans and covered walkways, but the short walk between your hotel and the mosque is where the heat actually bites. That is exactly why we steer people toward hotels closer to the Haram for a summer booking.
Generally yes, and often by a wide margin. Ramadan pricing climbs because demand is fixed to a single month and hotels know it. Summer spreads demand across three months instead of one, and while the six week school holiday window still pushes prices up compared with a random week in February, it rarely reaches Ramadan levels. If budget matters more to you than praying during the fasting month specifically, summer is usually the better financial decision.
The good hotel rooms do, yes, particularly across the last two weeks of July and the first two weeks of August when every school in England, Scotland and Wales breaks up at roughly the same time. Families booking a package that needs to fit term dates exactly should not wait until June to start looking. We start taking summer enquiries seriously from February onward, and by May the closest hotels to both Harams are already thinning out.
Early morning before sunrise, or after Maghrib once the sun has properly gone down. Midday in July is not the moment to attempt seven rounds of Tawaf outdoors, and even inside the Haram the crowds thicken once the temperature outside becomes unbearable and everyone retreats indoors at once. We build a rough daily rhythm into your itinerary notes so first time pilgrims are not left guessing.
Yes, start to finish. We check passport validity, photograph specifications and your MenACWY vaccination certificate before anything is submitted, because those three things cause almost every delay we see, summer or otherwise. You do not touch the Nusuk application yourself.
Yes. A large number of our clients hold a Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Indian or Afghan passport alongside UK residence, and we process those bookings routinely throughout the year. Processing timelines and the exact document set differ from a British passport application, so tell us your passport type at the first conversation and we build the correct timeline into your summer dates from day one.
Every flight inclusive package we sell is covered under ATOL licence 12834, and that applies whether you travel in January or the middle of August. Your certificate is issued the moment your deposit clears. You can check that licence number on the Civil Aviation Authority register yourself, and we would rather you did.
We would think twice before recommending it. A short walk in January feels nothing like the same walk in July, and the money saved on a slightly cheaper hotel can disappear fast if it means twenty exhausting minutes outdoors, twice a day, in extreme heat. For summer bookings specifically, distance from the Haram is one of the few places we actively steer clients away from cutting costs.
Beat the Heat. Not the Booking Deadline.
Send us your dates and we will price a summer package that actually accounts for the heat, not just the calendar. ATOL 12834 protected, deposits from £99.
